Export Records from a MySQL Database

The sample project featured in this article has built-in templates and mapping scripts for retrieving records from a MySQL database and storing them as CSV files. The templates are based on the Actors table from the Sakila sample database provided by MySQL.

The CSVMapping port is preconfigured to operate automatically, and the MySQL port will automatically route incoming files to the CSVMapping port. You can schedule the application to poll the MySQL database for new records whenever you want the job to run from the MySQL port settings page, or manually process files using the Receive button from the Receive tab of the MySQL port. You can navigate to the Receive tab of the CSVMapping port to download the list of actors.

In order to configure the example, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Ports tab and click the Import Settings button. In the dialog that appears, choose the file to import the project's settings and port configurations.
  2. After you have imported the sample, start by selecting the MySQL port and navigating to the Settings tab.
  3. In order to connect to the MySQL database, you will need to set the following fields: Server (the domain where the database is located), Port, Database, User, Password.
  4. To execute the sample, navigate to the Receive tab and click the Receive button to begin retrieving records from MySQL.
